As you all know the Carnage Cup is almost upon us once again

Now I'm putting to the Vote for everyone on here and at the club should the Carnage Cup be 2,000 pts or 2,250 pts, please vote but also please GIVE A VALID REASON (Cos I want that many points is NOT a valid reason) why you have voted as this feedback will help towards weither we keep the points the same or change them for our bigger tournaments.

I have voted for Other because I think that 1,999pts will make for very challenging lists, it stops Lord Choises but still allows you to have some versatility with other Characters and Units.

I too voted other, but not for 1999. 2000 points is probably the WORST size for battles as it provides the minimum battle points value for the most lords, specials and rare. 2250 is better but it could be better still. 1999 is also an improvement but does not allow a Lord choice at all which can be fun. 2500-2999 would be my choice as you get to use your lord, but also require an additional 500+ points squeezed into your army over and above 2000 point games.

So I voted for 2000 as a bare minimum. Anything above that is fine too.

I am in favour of the bigger points values 2500-2999pts. Its supposed to be fantasy battle, not fantasy skirmish.

I have just written a Dark Elf list for playing Neil, and from the decent list at 2000 points I have had to add virtually every other dark elf I have to get up to 2999. That and a few questionable magic banners.

Much harder to be OTT at that points, but are we 'pricing' some members out of the competition as they don't have enough toys to play at that points level?

I've voted for 2250.
I don't believe that anyone at the club has an army that's exactly 2,000 points worth of models strong and hasn't got a single other unit or two to add to it.
Pushing it above that may cause problems with number of models.
At 2250, it means that more troops tend to be fielded.
Can we ban Special Characters too please?

Agreed although I voted 2k, anything above 2250 is going to limit who can enter.

i voted 2250! never been a fan of 1999 for a competition! if that isnt the forum for power list then what is? if people want to play for fun then they can no ones stopping that but if your going to have a competition then you want all the show pieces out! dragons/big demons/monsters alike!

Lol typical Pete: "I dont care as long as i get my dragon" From a newbies PoV the more points i play the more i enjoy the game, 2250 seems the most sensible suggestion.

I voted for 2250 but agree that 2500 would be good (need to get mine stuck together) it does allow for that bit extra versatility and agree that this is a battle not skirmish game. Much more will add too much time to the game.
Also agree on rule to ban special characters (but then i always think thats a good thing to ban)

2250pts - at that level you seem to get a better game as people get to bring the extra toys that make the game more interesting/challenging. Its good to see some of the bigger monsters on the table otherwise they just sit at home gathering dust. It may also give prople the incentive to add a big centre piece model to get upto the 2250.

To be fair, my dragon does not usually come out to play unless it is competative play. (Or I need it to get to 2999)

Same to be said of the whole Dark Elf army at the moment.

And yet before the new book my Dark Elves were my "vrs newbies" friendly army.

For friendly play now, I am using lizards. Which I enjoy for the dinosaur mania.
