This is just a short post to clarify a situation that has recently been brought to the Exec's attention. There was, last week, an announcement asking for donations to be made to the club. The Announcement was a mistake, and related to a subject of a personal donation made to the club by a member.
The entire confusion came to a "crossed wire" at an earlier Exec meeting. I would like to inform the membership of Gobstyks on behalf of the current Exec that their is no financial crisis, no foul play has happened or any kind of impendiing doom has happening to the club. The club is absolutely fine, and in very sound order.
The last year has been a particular strain on club funds, this was down to our 10th Birthday celerations, to many ill attended saturdays and outgoings for certain tournaments. To recoup these outgoings, and to further improve the financial stability of the club, the exec decided on some cautious action for this year. We will be cutting down on the number of Saturdays, there will be two members raffles this year and certain other cost cutting measures have been put into place. This will ensure future stability and also provide the club with a solid platform to progress from.
The club however is completely aware that some members may feel uncomfortable by this announcement and members are more than able to approach any member of the Exec and be re-assured that this is all down to a simple mistake. Further to this post, an announcement will be made at Club this week to reach those members that do not regularly read this forum. Silly mistakes do happen, even at the business ends of big corporations, so we do apologise when the exec also encounter the same situation.
