Not for club play, but for taking to Open War, and possibly the club challenge. A little fluffy, but shooting/magic heavy.
Characters
Level 4 on Peg, zappy wand, ward save and scroll
Level 2 with lifetaker and tome of extra spell
Level 2 with extra power dice and scroll
Core
12 Corsairs with standard and musician (see told you it was fluffy)
16 Warriors with crossbows and shields. Standard and musician
12 Warriors with crossbows and shields. Musician
6 Dark Riders with crossbows
Special
Cold One Chariot with crossbows and spears
6 Harpies
Rare
2 Bolt Throwers
1 War Hydra (See, still fluffy)
A fair amount of shooting (something like 86 shots and fire breath) A good amount of casting (11 power dice) but not much good in combat - hopefully the chariot and hydra can see off smaller units and the shooting and magic can make bigger units into smaller units!
Not a hope of winning a tournament, but the goal is to win a game!
winning, whining, wine

So magic and shoot but keep out of combat for as long as possible seems the order of the day.
I have a feeling with the new Vampires being out magic defence for many armies will be stepped up a notch, so I think you are wise to add in the third sorceress.
It would smash my prospective Club challenge army with its magic, which perhaps is a bad sign

how about a club challenge warm up game? i am thinking of taking my 5 model list to give me a deadline to actually finish it! i've even nearly finished my second model!! (woooooo!!)
you know the list already which gives you the advantage but i really want to try it out and win a few games at the club challenge! _________________ just when you thought it was safe for sensible conversation!

I have been contemplating going with a less magical force. Focus on defence. As it would take quite a bit of punch to get through most people's magical defence at a tournament.
The problem is that Dark Elves really do not have much else going for them other than going to buy a dragon and chariots etc.
I'll see how they do at Open War, then I may consider going with Empire or Skaven.
Open, Oak, Opportunity
Edit:
My 'friendly club list' is as follows:
Lvl4 on peg with wand of zapping and power dice
Lvl 2 with lifetaker and book of extra spell
Hero general with mundane gubbins and dispel dice
12 Corsairs with standard and musician
5 Dark Riders with crossbows
11 Warriors with crossbows and shields and musician
15 Warriors with crossbows, shields, musician and standard
1 Chariot with crossbows and spears
6 Cold Ones, full command
2 Reaper Bolt Throwers
1 War Hydra

A Lighter magic army would look like this:
Hero with crossbow, cloak, hvy, enchanted shield, seal of extra dispel dice
Lvl 2 with lifetaker and tome of extra spell
Lvl 2 with extra power dice and scroll
16 Warriors with shields, crossbows, standard and musician
12 Warriors with shields, crossbows, musician
5 Dark Riders with crossbows
1 Chariot
5 Harpies
12 Witch Elves, full command and manbane
6 Cold Ones with War Banner
2 Reapers
War Hydra
Points saved on level 4 spent on Cold Ones and changing Corsairs for Witch Elves.
As I don't own a second chariot (yet) or a Dark Elf Dragon Rider (unless you count my very old second ed model) I can't add in those things.

What about a Dragon? Nothing wrong with a crutch now and again!

I will be going for a dragon. However, I want to wait until the Dark Elf spearhead set comes out and see what is in it.
Maybe a Manticore, I don't know, but I'm not investing in a Dragon until I know if there is a model for a Dark Elf one.
