Hello all,

I recently purchased some landraiders and was thinking of the best way to use them. I have thought of three lists using different codices that allow much Landraiding.

All the lists have 4 Landraiders of various types and two scoring units who hide in the Landraiders.

List 1: Marines

HQ: Chaplain + Pants

T: 5 Scouts + Powerfist

T: 5 Scouts + Powerfist

E: 5 Assault Termis, LR Redeemer + Melta

H: LR Redeemer + Melta

H: LR Redeemer + Melta

H: LR Vanilla

:) Machine Spirit is better in the Marine book, Redeemers are very good, Assault Termis are very good.


List 2: Chaos

HQ: Sorcerer + Doombolt

E: 3 Termis + Heavy Flamer + 2 Powerfists + Pair of Lightning Claws, LR + Havoc Launcher + Extra Armour.

E: 3 Termis + Heavy Flamer + 2 Powerfists + Pair of Lightning Claws, LR + Havoc Launcher + Extra Armour.

T: 5 Marines + Meltagun

T: 5 Marines + Meltagun

H: LR + Havoc

H: LR + Havoc

:) Brilliant long range, two Termi units, more sturdy scoring units.


List 3: Daemonhunters

HQ: Brother Captain, 4 Grey Knight Terminators.

E: Inquisitor + Bolt pistol, 3 Warriors + Meltaguns, 2 Mystics, Landraider +Smoke.

T: 5 Stormtroopers + 2 Meltaguns

T: 5 Stormtroopers + 2 Meltaguns

H: LR Crusader + Smoke

H: LR Crusader + Smoke

H: LR Vanilla + Smoke

:) Excellent firepower, GK Termis are very good, There are some nice tricks up its sleeve.

I personally like lists 2 and 3. Possibly 3 the most.

If I'm honest, I prefer list 1.

I like Redeemers (I feel they are the best for dropping assault troops) and they can all have multimeltas, making them damned good against other Raider-esque armies.

Yes, Scouts are fragile, but surely you will be keeping them inside a Land Raider each and parking the LR on the objective (therefore claiming it).

Not entirely sure why you have given them a Power ist, but never mind, you know what you are doing.

THSS Termies are also undercosted, and are pretty fantastic and busting noses.

The issue with the other two lists (especially the Chaos one) is if you come up against a horde army (and you will, Orks are more and more popular) can you do enough damage with Lascannons and Heavy Bolters.

List 1.1: Marines

HQ: Chaplain Cassius (T6, Feel No Pain - that was Lee's idea)

T: 5 Scouts

T: 5 Scouts

E: 5 Assault Termis, LR Redeemer + Extra + Melta

H: LR Redeemer + Melta

H: LR Redeemer + Melta

H: LR Vanilla + Melta

Is this better than the original? It means the scouts are utterly useless for anything but hiding in the sturdy hulls of their Landraiders but it greatly improves the Termi's punch.

Yeah you might as well have Cassius for an extra 25 points you get a T6 chappy with a combi-flamer, didn't realise he got FNP though that's an added bonus.

The great thing about marine armies is their land raiders are good troop killers, although if it were me i'd have hestan 9/10 for all of the twin-linked multi-meltas, as it's probably more effective than a fearless unit of termies overall, although FNP THSS Termies is very dirty.

The 2nd list is Okay but Chaos LR's aren't as good as marine ones imo a good Land Raider build a dude did at a tourney was zerkers inside 3x land raider with lash princes, you get the picture.

Yeah the GK list is alright too, Crusaders put out some nice fire but aren't as effective as redeemers imo.


Anyways the marines list I like best, make sure you do some kinda cheaty conversion like Tony has done on his Redeemer :P
