Two omissions, that we know of.

Both from our club.

That is why I feel the need.

Y'know

Just realised I didn't get my second round painting scores (the 0-5 bit). That could well have pushed me up on the leaderboard and move gobstyks up a place on the board too.

I left out my army and list too. The reason I didn't notice was that I didn't stay for the final results

Oh well - It doesn't matter now I s'pose.

And Darryl please don't degenerate into insults, Pete may be being a bit harsh (some vaguely justiified - but he should have been there to fully comment), but insults just tend to escalate the matter rather than resolving the issue.

Pete is however entitled to his opinion.

I do think personally that you could have done with a bigger team, but i also think the event was well run, but just to sort out those potential niggles is what i am saying here.

I also had a good time (apart form horrible demons on my last game)

Thanks anyway it is appreciated

i would also like to point out on a seperate matter that children do also use this forum and how ever anybody feels i would ask that they be aware of this fact before using certain language if a personal gripe is wanted to be expressed then you can send personal messages and despite no longer being on the executive i do feel that the current exec will not stand for use of poor language on this forum and so i ask the modorator to remove offensive words and maybe this particular topic should be closed

I agree with Alister, I think this thread is just going to devolved into insults.

Whatever has been said, I, and the rest of the team, enjoyed Open War, and fully intend being at the next one, however, these issues needed to be raised (maybe in a different way, not publicly), and hopefully you will take these points on board to make Open War XIII even better.

All,

I've deleted my offending thread, and totally apologise for the harsh language.

However! After giving up so much of both mine and my wife's (who doesn't even like the hobby!) time to try and make the event go smoothly, to have been told by persons who were not even there that we did / do a bad job was unacceptable, and has now resulted in Julie saying that she won't help on future events due to the bad blood - not a result I wanted!

As I previously said, we look forward to the visits by the Gobstyks, and look forward to many more.

The feedback has been taken on board, and we will tighten up the process for painting scores on OW13 - I will also be taking up Pete's offer of help on the day to help run the event!

Can we all stay friends now?

I am sorry if your wife has been upset, we really do appreciate the effort put in, and we know it is a difficult job.

I certainly don't believe there was shenanigans happening, it is just bad luck that most of the issues were involving us.

Maybe having two separate results tables, two different people entering on these tables, and then comparing, may result in less mistakes. It is certainly a big job to do, so it may not be viable.

We certainly look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Cool.

I would offer some suggestions on how to improve the logistics of the painting, feel free to ignore or disagree.

The 'extra' points is a logistical nightmare. An events team big enough to cover the number of armies is going to be inconsistent, and one small enough to avoid this is not going to have enough time (and miss lunch).

Instead, stick with the criteria driven form only. Have someone double check EVERY army that scores 0 to see if it is unpainted. If it is not, then award it, say, 15 (or something).

This should free up more time for the events team, make data entry easier, and put in place a contingency check so that players do not come away disappointed after their fun games due to tournament positions.

I don't know if you do, but also when people hand in final round scores, read them back their scores for the day (not including painting) to check they agree with what you have. (e.g You got 20? Great, that gives you a 10, 20, 20 for today, yes? ) Simple and effective double check.

I'll try and get a ticket for the next open war but if I can't get a ticket I'm willing to come down to the next one and help out also.
