It doesn't say that it ignores Armour Saves, so you are still allowed to take them.

you still get a cover save in the same way you would with an AP that would otherwise leave you with no save. if a weapon or abillity give no cover save then the rules will state as such (i.e flamer)

Ok cheers for replies, i just found it confusing how it can travel in a straight line and hit almost any units, but conveniently not ones in cover.
