|
|
So I'm planning on getting the starter set and swapping out the Orks with Gareth. Then I will paint them up as Mentor Marines and have a small army.
So with having the starter set already, what else is recommended to take them up to 1500 points?
Is 10 terminator marines too many?
Cheers,
Pete

Is there any distance in, as many dwarf players have done, just using starter sets, begged borrowed (but not stolen) from other people?
Do you need anything other than tactical marines, commanders, terminators and dreadnaughts?

I think it's all about personal taste, do YOU think you need anything other than Tactical Marines, Commanders, Terminators and Dreadnaughts
Personally with what I've been hering about Tanks being hevely resticted in what it can shoot after it has moved, Dreadnaughts are going to be very useful indeed.
As for the "Distance" in Fantasy Starters vs 40K starters I have an answer to it but it will take ages to type out and explain, so I'll chat with you tomorrow about it
My tuppence worth anyway

While tanks are restricted in what they can fire, they can also put up with a lot more damage, so they useful.
I would therefore suggest a tank with one main gun, such as a Whirlwind or Vindicator.
Land Speeders are also useful, as would maybe an assault squad.

Nobody seems to have noticed that 2 terminator squads and 2 Dreadnoughts is 4 elite choices. 10 terminators is enough. I would recommend holding off on buying any extras until the new Marine Codex comes out later in the year (of course if this is before September then I would just hold fire in general as you will have plenty of time to contemplate the rules).

That won't be possible if the new Marine codex is anything like either of the Angels' codices.
