Although I have put together a squad for my next army, work will not begin on this until after the skaven book is out, and that army is updated and my Marines are polished off.

However,

I think I'll be going with Imperial Guard. But with a twist.

Welcome to life in Alpha complex citizens! The computer is your friend!

Infantry platoons from armed forces, mechanised infantry become troubleshooters, various tanks are 'bots. Plasma weapons are ... well plasma weapons. Cone rifles - rocket launchers. Heavy weapon teams from R&D testing their ridiculous inventions. IntSec commisars. Vulture warriors - storm troopers. Mutants- psykers etc. etc. etc.

Not much actual conversion work, with most of the theme done with kit bashing and paint work. Things like secret society badges, random bits of kits, security clearance.

Now the dangerous part.

I am only going to get the book and work out the list AFTER building all the units I want and equiping them to for the theme. Hopefully I wil have enough to field 1500-2000 points with some options.

And remember - should you kill the army the computer will just activate the next line of clones!!!

That, and I can always use them to run an epicly large Paranoia role play!

Cheers,

Pete

Like the idea

Loads of conversion possibilities

I would probably work out the bare bones of an army even without writing a full list - It should help you to give the project some definition

I am wondering how your army will cope with being outside. Surely they will suffer from the largest case of mass agraphobia noted throughout the known galaxy.

You could also do this with Tau (although Imp guard is probably the most correct or maybe Imp Guard using the Tau list). I suppose you need the unpredictability of the plasma weapons to make them correct (what about orks

I am sure they should look more nervous than that.

How's about a unit where everyone looks the same - as in all of the clones turning up at the same time. Not necessarily the same pose but everything else (head, torso etc) and a couple of guys with higher clearance and so access to better weapons?

You don't usually get the nexy clone activated until the previous 1 is dead.

The project is going to begin life as getting models to do a huge role play version. So I do not yet need to worry about the list, as long as I give them weapons that are actually allowed to take.

And fortunately, gaming tables are indoors. So my models look up and see a roof. Happy days!

But yes, the security clearance system is going to be in full operation. Trouble shooters (who will be mechanised infantry) have a bit more variety about their ranks. I'll need plenty of variety for the role play version.

The armed forces platoon can have infa-red (black) grunts, a couple of red special weapon users. Orange sergeants. Command squads of yellow and green clearance. Purple officers. (Saving Blue for the Vulture Warriors)

Cheers,

Pete

PARANOIA SQUEE!!!!!!!!!

On the clone line thing, are you going to individually tally how many times each model dies and after the 6th time one dies you have to make a new conversion.

I thought of that, it does require me to have played more than 6 games of 40K, but the thought of replacing large numbers of grunts is a little off putting.

I will, however, be naming the whole army. And keeping track of their achievements.

I know the paranoia clone rules mate but thought there could be a glitch with the computer (Imperium 1)where all of one clone had turned up. It could look good to have one unit all look the same - but tis up to you really as it is your project.

In fact a whole clone army could be good (gets me thinking). i was thinking that if I did an Imp Guard army that I would make them all look like Rogue Trooper from thev old Dredd comics but that would require Cadian heads on Catachan bodies and until they make them better it is definite no

I had also considered Rogue Trooper, especially hen they did the abhuman rules for doctrines in WD a while back, but I have to agree the Catachans are too bulky for that.

On a separate note though, does that mean you are going to be playing more 40k, Pete?

Maybe,

But it certainly means I'll be playing some more Paranoia.

When the first models are done, using Star Wars / Heroclix maps and maybe some Nercomunda terrain to do some fun and wacky Paranoia adventures.

Cheers,

Pete

So, the project has kind of fallen down two paths.

The first is the role play stuff. Keeping going with that. Got lots of merry troubleshooters, robots and vulture warriors on the way.

The second is supplementing that with a nice 1500 point list.

Still no codex (but I may correct that) but my thought on the table top is:

HQ
Command Squad with 4 flamers and advisers to make your reserves late. Chimera. (Place 1 flame template from the Chimera, x4 S4 hits on that unit. Yes please!)

Troop
6 Veteran Squads in Chimeras.
2 with 3 plasma and las cannon (sit at home table edge) Chimeras with heavy bolter and multilaser
4 with 3 melta guns (go get 'em) Chimeras possiblely with 2 heavy flamers

Fast Attack
Chemical Tanks / Hellhound with whatever points I have left.

About 15/6 kill points but with lots of very mobile objective holders that can dish out some pain.
