So, what filth will a potential GTer face?

84 horrors, 3 lvl2, blue scribes, 12 flamers.

And this is why fantasy is broken at the moment. It will take a tremendous effort on GWs part to pull this around (but then Beasts are next after Skaven, so why am I complaining?)

More Dark Elves than Daemons so Dark Elves are the best Fantasy race? This why i laugh when the Dark Elf players at our club criticise my army lists, its easy to criticise when you play the best army in the game and the 40k results were much different it was won by Space marines, i think WH/Necrons were the only races not up there but those books are like 10 years old, although im enjoying my Fantasy more at the mo i guess i just prefer more game imbalance.

of course new armies will be potentially slightly better, but it means nothing in the long run! the game is not broken it works fine for me no matter what i play, but i find it's more the 'oh shiney' effect i still think a good player will do well with a good army of any race. i still think andy thompson would be in the top 20 (maybe even 10) if he took his brets! there are bad armies and there are good armies but thats how it's supposed to be!

While Andy is probably our best player, there are far better players out there (no offence meant Andy).

But even Dark Eldar got a qualifying army, and yes, the top two armies were vanilla marines.

If you play sensibly against someone you can trust no to be silly then it works just fine. If you go to a competative tournament (especially the GTs) then this probably isn't going to happen, but then you should have known that when you signed up.

I would still rather play 7th than go back to the good old days when my Vampire Lord used to fly around on a Level 3 spell casting Emporer Dragon carrying the Black Amulet, The Book of Ashur, The Carstein Ring and waving his Dragon Slayer Sword.

Oh, they were fun days, but I played High Elves at that time, so ran around with the War Crown of Saphery.

But evrryone had a lvl 5 spellcaster back then. You had to.

Oh, and a still get a shiver when anyone mentions Assault of Stone.
