These are my first attemtps at a couple of WoC lists. First list is the more preferable one with the second satisfying my want for an army full of monsters!
Many thanks in advance for comments (neither list intended as overly competetive)
List 1
Chaos Lord, barded steed, shield, Axe of Khorne, Collar of Khorne, Favour of the Gods, Mark of Tzeentch (decent in challeneges, provides some cheap magic resistance also)
Exalted Hero, BSB, Mark of Khorne, Enchanted Shield, Sword of Might (some extra killing power with BSB bonus)
Chaos Sorceror, level 2, Fury of the Blood God, Conjoined Homunculus, Mark of Tzeentch (little bit of magic with cheap magic resistance again)
15 Chaos Warriors, shields, command, Mark of Nurgle (led by BSB, should prove reasonably difficult to shift)
14 Chaos Warriors, command, shields (led by sorceror)
20 Marauders, light armour, shields, command
5 Hounds
5 Hounds
5 Hounds
5 Hounds
Chaos Chariot
5 Chaos Knights, Mark of Khorne
5 Chaos Knights, Mark of Tzeentch, standard, Blasted Standard (led by Lord, mr2, 4+ ward save vs. missiles)
Chaos Spawn (got to love how useful these things are!)
Chaos Spawn
Total = 2250pts
List 2
Sorceror Lord, level 4, Chaos Dragon, Diabolic Spledour, Stream of Corruption, Mark of Tzeentch, Collar of Khorne (good magic resitstance, 2 breath weapons, and -1 for terror tests)
5 Marauder Horsemen, flails, musician
5 Marauder Horsemen, flails, musician
5 Marauder Horsemen, shields, musician
5 Hounds
5 Hounds
5 Hounds
(all core for taking out war machines and ranks)
3 Dragon Ogres, great weapons (one of my favourite units, brilliant anti - knights)
3 Dragon Ogres, additional hand weapons
4 Ogres, Mark of Khorne, Chaos Armour, Great Weapons (should hit very hard along with Dragon Ogres)
Shaggoth, great weapon (probably my favourite model)
Chaos Giant (1 of three terror causing big monsters)

2 Very good lists, the only bugbear I have about them is giving stuff like Axe of KHORNE to a TZEENCH character...hate it but yes I know you can do it and so fair enough.

Ya agree Doddy it seems so wrong. I always read the best Woc armies require a gate, which at first glance list 2 would appear to have, also list 1 has lots hvy armour khorne troops, playing Skaven i dont find it too hard to bait khorne troops into ratling guns, list 2 has a gate many monsters and a controllable army.

I'm really not a fan of mid sized infantry units.
List 2 is the nastier as it can move well.
Some people call this edition of Warhammer "Movehammer". If you can dominate the movement phase, and get your troops into good positions, you can stand a decent chance.
The first list does not hit hard enough at range to make your opponent want to take on those slow infantry blocks, so they will be the ones dictating what they take on it combat. With your two units of knights either getting isolated, shot up (even with a ward) or flank charged by baiting.
The second list offers far more in taking the fight to your opponent. The level 4 on dragon is very dangerous, able to do well at range and close in, with enough war machine hunters in your core to take out any threats before moving in with the dragon to threaten flanks whilst your dragon ogres keep your opponent 'honest' (facing forward)
You may want to have a single unit of 4 Dragon Ogres, rather than 2x3. And trim a bit here and there to get a second mage. Otherwise most armies will cope too easily with the magic you have paid an awful lot of points for. 6 dice might get you one spell a turn through a medium magic defence, and virtually none through a strong one.
If you do go in favour of list one, then drop the mage to a level 1. He is not getting many spells off and the points are better spent elsewhere. Like extra knights so they don't get shot into redundancy too soon. At 5 strong a couple down is going to woefully effect their chances vrs a cheap and cheerful fully ranked up infantry block (which you may see lots of when the new skaven book comes out)
Hope to have helped.
Cheers,
Pete

I agree with Pete the second list is the stronger of the two, but not without it's weaknesses. The 1st list is what I would call a campaign list. It should provide an enjoyable challenge and plays a "proper" game of Warhammer requiring a great deal more thought and strategy. The 2nd list is much more in your face, lose big or win big depending on how well your opponent is able to carve out a rock to face your scissors. Personaly I think the 1st list is a better list, if not as powerful as the 2nd.
