Due to my and others poor showings at tournaments, I am interested in setting up some system to allow those players who wish to compete at a higher level the opportunity to do so.

My initial thoughts are a 4 player league (or as many as are required) who p[lay six games (two against each player), and then a final or semis, again depending on the number of players.

But I also want something where we can discuss tactics, army lists and rules to further improve our game.

Is anyone interested? Ideas are more than welcome.

At the moment in WFB, if we want a tournament practice game, we make that clear.

Although to be fair, none of us are that bothered about where we finish in tournaments, as you can tell by the fact that we are not all playing demon armies.

Find other good players, challenge them to a no holds barred game. Keep track of who has won the most. Simple. No need to go over the top with league systems. Or keep it simple and have everyone play each other once.

Cheers,

Pete

id be up for a league system pip! but you would have to trail it will 4 - 6 dedicated players who you know will be there most weeks or you know you can arrange to play in the shop or at home etc so you can get the final few games played!

although i will warn you that if you dont keep on top of it then interest does fade away because of the 'shiny' effect

Again, like most things recently, I reckon if you give people three weeks to get a game played, then they should be able to manage it.

there is 'shiny syndrome', but if I was to worry about that, nothing would ever get done.

When doing tournament practices, we often do 'triangular' series events.

Two playing, one watching, all discussing. Each player plays the other two once. We usually manage it over a Saturday, but it could be easily adapted if you and two friends set aside a two or three club nights.

I think that would be better to achieve your objective.

Cheers,

Pete

I would like to bring that Pyramid thing back, which you used to have many yeons ago when I first started. I don't think the league necessarily has to be for competitive players but for people who want to use any army lists that they want....you could have the starting positions based on where people finished in the Carnage cup.

It could be an ongoing thing until we get bored basically.

Thanks,

Lee

I don't think I should start off as bottom, just because I ran the cups!

(Except perhaps 40K)

I think exceptions could be negotiated.

Should be fun, and would make things a little more interesting.

As far as I know, they should be in the back cupboard in the RP room, unless Will has them.

I will be attending Gobstyks regularly after Christmas and would love to be involved in some sort of Gobstyks team development programme. I have always been very keen on raising the standard of gaming in the club but have always felt alone in this desire. If you want my help to boost your 40K prowess then you only have to ask. That has always been the case. I am willing to forgive the cruel things that have been said about me in the past

I could finally have a reason to come to Gobstyks!

(In case you were wondering, the tone I am going for in this post is "see me rise above it" :D )

My Marines will be designed to be competative. Although reports from the GT suggest that I may be better getting out my Chaos.

Either way, I'd be up for a 'triangular' to try and get back to my form of the late 90s.

When you say form of the late 90's

you've really left yourself open to bad interpritation there Pete

I'm for isntance when you want to return to your 90's form, If I were cruel I could of suggested rather than doing a triangular you have miss typed and may think you have suggested doing a triathelon to get your "form" back, but I'm not cruel and all I am doing is making you aware of this possability of being ridiculed

Yours in observational service

Andy D
